The ps3 has some weird stuff going with it, I've definitely noticed that it takes longer to render a page on my ps3 than it does on my net-book. I believe its because of the architecture of the device needed by the cell processor. I really wish they would just use Google Chrome as their browser. I could have done this if they didn't take out support for Linux. Slow flash rendering would not explain such an excessive decrease in speed - is your PC also running wirelessly?

I would love to be able to connect it via hardwire but the closest cable hook ups are on the other side of my house.

Best Buy now offers pairs of Powerline Network connections that might help you. Connect one to an outlet with your router and the other in an outlet in the room with your system. Supposedly your house can support any number of these devices at 85Mbps.

Lucas Or just get a really long ethernet cable, it'd be much cheaper.. Add a comment. I can't do this since I have no cable hookups in the room where my PS3 is. I always recommend Ethernet unless its just not practical. If you can keep your PS3 hooked up to Ethernet , then do so. You'll get better throughput and a better ping. Just so I understand, I will continue to get mbps via wifi regardless of the service I pay for?

Whether its 20mbps or mbps, the PS3 will still only see the mbps? That is most likely correct. You have to think of networking as a bunch of linked chains and that chain can only hold as much as its weakest link. In this case, your Wifi and PSN are going to be the weakest links. You've tested this by trying both wifi and wired and shown that the wifi is the weak link. Since you said the PS3 is next to the router, it begs the question "why not just wire it up and not care?

If you really want a little faster wifi with your PS3, get a wireless n wifi ethernet adapter such as this and pair it with a wireless n access point. Alrighty, I'll leave it connected to the router. The speed improvement is too much to pass up. Joined Jun 11, Messages 28, Last edited: Jan 12, Decided to leave it wired as I mentioned before. I also upgraded from 20mbps to 30mbps with my provider. Boards PlayStation 3 Is there a download speed cap on the ps3? User Info: ZenGamer User Info: CronoGuyver. I dont think so, but the further away you are from the source the slower the speed.

Mine also on wired connection, and speeds are usually fluctuated between different downloads. I think it depends on what you are downloading, from whom and where is your location.

And how many people are DLing it at the moment. Those who come with a sword, will die by the sword. There has to be, since my internet is fast, and can download things super fast on my laptop, wireless. But my wired PS3 connection, slow as molasses, usually. A few trolls on this site were trolling me and saying it was my internet.
